Moss Vale Station and Stabling Yard Upgrade
Degnan has been engaged by Transport for NSW to design and deliver the Moss Vale Station and Stabling Yard Upgrade. This project aims to enhance accessibility, meet Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport (DSAPT), and prepare the site for the new Regional Rail Fleet.
The works cover a very large area and are divided into two areas. Station upgrade: focusing on access, amenities, and commuter facilities, and
Stabling yard upgrade: improving capacity and functionality.

For commuters and residents there will be enhanced accessibility from both sides of the station with lifts being installed at Argyle St and Lackey Road

Stabling Yard Enhancements
Lengthened tracks, upgraded access, new pedestrian walkways, and shore power supply for Regional Rail Fleet operations.
Retaining walls, a potential noise barrier, and Combined Services Routes (CSRs) for enhanced operations.

To meet Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport (DSAPT) three lifts will be installed and both footbridges will have modifications.

Parking and busing arrangement at the station entrance will be formalised with dedicated accessible spaces, a new kiss-and-ride zone, and bus/coach drop-off.
Station upgrades will include the station entrances, waiting areas, and ticketing facilities. Plus improved security and communications systems, including CCTV and lighting upgrades.

We’re excited about collaborating with the local community, Transport for NSW, NSW Trains, and ARTC as we embark on these upgrades. It’s a fantastic opportunity to work together to create positive changes.

Moss Vale station opened as Suttons Forest in December 1867. It was the terminus of the line until the extension to Marulan on 6 August 1868.
The station was renamed to Moss Vale in 1877.
In March 1999, a refueling and stabling facility for the Endeavour trains was built to the north of the station.
Moss Vale railway station was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register in April 1999. It is one of the most important station groups in the State, as it contains rare examples of early buildings, various later structures, vice-regal buildings, unique entry arrangement, very high quality buildings and demonstrates the wealth and range of railway structures and the importance of rail travel in the past.
The station also has a strong social historical connection as it was used by Governors and is an important focal point of the town of Moss Vale.
