Calder Park Light Service Facility

Degnan has been award the contract to deliver the Light Service Facility at Calder Park to support the long-term maintenance of the High Capacity Metro Trains. This facility will support the ongoing whole-of-asset life maintenance and operation of Melbourne’s Bigger, Better Trains including light maintenance, presentation, and graffiti removal.

The Degnan team will work alongside Downer  who is undertaking the long-term maintenance of the 70-seven car trains.

The trains were delivered by Evolution Rail Consortium  which comprised Downer, CRRC and Plenary on behalf of the Victorian Government.

Scope of Work
  • Track and Site Layout: Over 1km of new track configuration and site layout.
  • Infrastructure: Internal roads, car parks, drainage, and pathways.
  • Overhead Structures: Wiring and switches.
  • Train Maintenance Building: 1700m² facility for maintenance and graffiti cleaning, featuring two roads through the building.
  • Amenities Building: For maintenance operatives and train drivers.
  • Maintenance Area: Centralised pit for train maintenance access.
  • Elevated Platform: For roof-level maintenance work.
  • Presentation Platform: For deep/presentation cleaning.
  • Site Services: Power, stormwater, and hydraulic services.
  • Systems Interface: Physical infrastructure to interface with various systems (ICT, DPPS, overhead switching).
  • Specialist Equipment: Including a crane, Depot Personnel Protection System and graffiti removal waste treatment.
Degnan is excited to be working in Victoria once again after the successful delivery of the Sunbury Eco-Hub which is part of the Westgate Tunnel Project.
