Normanby Car Wash Facility Upgrade

Our latest project in Queensland has reached a significant milestone, crossing the halfway point of our Normanby Train Wash Facility upgrade project for Queensland-rail.

The team has done a great job navigating the challenges of planning and safely operating between the rail corridor and the bustling Inner City Bypass, Brisbane, completing almost 100 pile excavations and the retaining wall structures. Degnan’s experience coordinating and planning works in the high-risk environment of a rail corridor has ensured the facility has and will remain operational throughout the project’s remaining phases.

This project involves coordinating and constructing an upgrade to the car ‘train’ wash facility and includes work within the rail corridor and of the washing facilities, water treatment and recycling plant.

Our expertise in innovative planning and thinking and our experience working within a live rail environment is key to the successful delivery.

The Normanby Car Wash Facility (NCWF) is where Queensland Rail’s train fleet is washed. It is pivotal in servicing the South East Queensland Rail locomotives, ensuring they’re in top-notch condition for the journey ahead. Keeping the locomotive fleet up to the highest of standards, this facility plays a crucial part in maintaining seamless rail operations.
Normanby, in inner city Brisbane is located on what is known as the Exhibition Loop that runs between Roma Street and Exhibition stations.
