Normanby Car Wash Facility Upgrade

The Normanby Train Wash Facility project for Queensland Rail involved coordinating and implementing upgrades to the car ‘train’ wash facility. This project encompassed work within the rail corridor and included enhancements to the washing facilities, water treatment, and the establishment of a recycling plant.

A main focus for this project is to efficiently manage the intricacies of planning and ensuring safe operations within the rail corridor, especially alongside the bustling Inner City Bypass in Brisbane.
Degnan’s adept coordination and strategic approach in handling operations within the challenging rail corridor environment have ensured the uninterrupted operation of the facility, a commitment that will endure throughout the project’s subsequent phases.
The success of this endeavor is underpinned by our expertise in innovative planning and thinking, complemented by our extensive experience in operating within a live rail environment, crucial elements ensuring a successful delivery.

The Normanby Car Wash Facility (NCWF) is where Queensland Rail’s train fleet is washed. It is pivotal in servicing the South East Queensland Rail locomotives, ensuring they’re in top-notch condition for the journey ahead. Keeping the locomotive fleet up to the highest of standards, this facility plays a crucial part in maintaining seamless rail operations.

Normanby, in inner city Brisbane is located on what is known as the Exhibition Loop that runs between Roma Street and Exhibition stations.

Meanjin is the traditional name of Brisbane, meaning the place of the blue water lillies. This is the story of the Turrbal Tribe, the traditional custodians of the land.
