Degnan is delivering the design, construction, and systems integration for the Sydney Metro City & Southwest expansion to Metro Trains Sydney Operations Control Centre (OCC) at Rouse Hill in readiness for the new Metro line to be operational in 2024.
The OCC is the heartbeat of the Metro System and forms the base for overall management control and monitoring of the whole North West Rail Link (NWRL) and future South West Rail Link (SWRL) network where train controllers will constantly monitor the entire Metro System, controlling the trains, tunnels, platforms, and sky train 24hrs 7 days a week.
Degnan works have started and comprise electrical, mechanical, fire, hydraulics, and fit-out works including some interface work to the existing data rooms as well as providing the external mechanical enclosure and transformer generator unit.
Supporting sustainability initiatives, maintainability, and whole of life cost, materials, products, and supply chain choices are being sourced to ensure cohesiveness with the existing OCC buildings.
This is the first MTR/MTS operation expansion of its kind and Degnan is well experienced in the delivery of groundbreaking and supporting infrastructure works in live operating rail networks.
Degnan is excited to be a part of this impressive and technologically advanced public transport system, which will transform the way commuters travel daily.
