Shorncliffe Station Renewal

Degnan is delivering the renewal of the heritage-listed Shorncliffe Station, combining careful restoration with modern accessibility upgrades. The project preserves the station’s historic character while improving safety, functionality, and customer experience for the community.

The project restores the original 1914 station building footprint, ensuring key architectural features are retained and enhanced. Works include refurbishment of the existing awning and preservation of the 1940s air raid shelter.

Close collaboration with heritage specialists ensures all restoration activities align with conservation requirements, maintaining the station’s historical integrity while extending its lifespan.

Working within a live rail environment, the team balances complex structural works with heritage requirements to ensure the station continues to serve passengers while securing its legacy for future generations.

The renewal includes structural remediation and upgrades to critical building services. Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and communications systems are being modernised to meet current standards and improve long-term reliability.
