Banksia Foundation Clean Technology Awards | Como Station PCV
NSW Clean Technology Award 2021 | National Banksia Clean Technology Award 2022
Degnan Constructions won the Clean Technology Award in the 2021 NSW Banksia Awards
and the 2022 33rd Annual National Banksia Awards
Both awards were only possible because of our teams’ willingness to realise the possibilities, to seek out innovation, and to deliver and plan ideas to become a reality.
We have not only created an award-winning design and piece of sustainable infrastructure, but have also created a legacy for the industry, which demonstrates that a small project can deliver innovative sustainable infrastructure solutions in a highly regulated environment.
Degnan’s vision was to deliver a project that set a new benchmark for innovation in rail infrastructure, focusing on sustainable design concepts seamlessly integrated into the fabric of the station. They conceived a solution where the source of renewable energy could be integrated into an essential piece of infrastructure for the Como Train Station upgrade

Ellie Bowden and Bridget Fazio were both finalists in the 2023 Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board (RiSSB) both receiving a Highly Commended.
Ellie was nominated for Industry Safety Professional of the Year for her continuing innovative and passionate approach to safety at Degnan, continuously providing the highest quality instruction.
Bridget was nominated for Community Safety for her work with schools and disability groups and for the new initiative with the TrackSafe Foundation to create a brand new suite of content to hopefully fill some gaps to provide an opportunity for people living with a disability to have more freedoms and independence to travel safely on the rail network
We were incredibly proud to have two representatives in just five award categories, with recognition for both Ellie and Bridget exceptionally well deserved and publicly reaffirming Degnan’s status as a leader in safety for the rail industry.
