PROJECT INFORMATION
Degnan successfully completed the construction of a new High Voltage Substation at Guildford as a part of TfNSW Power Supply Upgrade Program (PSU Program).
The new substation, is one of three Degnan constructed, the others being at Minto and Ingleburn. All three were designed to meet the current and projected increase in power demands on the Sydney Trains electrical network, to provide long term benefits to users of the rail network, such as a new air-conditioned fleet, improving service reliability and reducing the risk of rail service disruptions.
The site for the Guildford was inside the rail corridor, which meant working within close proximity to running trains including Sydney Trains and ARTC..
Working in the challenging environment of a live rail network does bring limitations for access and movement within the site, but our extensive experience in this type of environment provided an advantage to successfully plan and coordinate the high-risk activities involved to successfully completing the project.
