Our way

Social

Community engagement is at the heart of our mission. We believe that successful projects go beyond bricks and mortar; they strengthen the fabric of our communities.

Caring for Our People

Degnan are a family-owned Australian construction company with over 40 years of experience delivering quality services for our clients and our communities. We are proudly 100% Australian-owned and operated and are recognised for the strength of our workplace culture.

Supporting Local Communities

Community engagement is at the heart of our mission. We believe that successful projects go beyond bricks and mortar; they strengthen the fabric of our communities. We actively seek input and feedback from local residents and stakeholders. Our approach ensures that each project not only meets the needs of our clients but also aligns with the aspirations and values of the community. By fostering open communication and building strong relationships, we aim to create spaces that enrich lives and contribute to the collective wellbeing of the neighbourhoods we serve.

We seek to engage local businesses for supply and trade agreements and actively work with our client on social procurement priorities. We also try to establish partnerships with local educational institutions for collaboration opportunities.

Given our extensive involvement in accessibility projects, we have channelled our support towards individuals and organisations dedicated to improving the lives of those with disabilities. We have worked closely with disability groups when executing projects to provide work experience opportunities and skills workshops.

Degnan has also established an ongoing relationship with Rugby Wheelchair Australia and served as a major sponsor for several national tournaments.

Working with First Nations Peoples

Degnan acknowledge and pay respect to the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we operate and execute projects. We seek to pay respect to First Nations people during the delivery of our projects through consultation and collaboration.

Degnan’s inaugural Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), marks the beginning of our long-term commitment to collaborate with the First Nations people of Australia. As a construction organisation dealing with land, places, culture, history, and the natural environment, it is our duty to understand more about the Traditional Owners of this land and their deep ‘connection to country.’ This insight allows us to appreciate and respect the cultural sensitivities that apply to our work.

On several of our projects, Degnan has engaged with Traditional Owners to listen to storytelling to understand the deep history of the land. This engagement has continued through the integration of artwork and architectural elements inspired by local Aboriginal Community Groups to celebrate the story the land, its people and their culture.

Modern Slavery

Degnan recognise that modern slavery is an issue worldwide and reject modern slavery in all its forms. We are committed to ensuring there is no modern slavery in our supply operations and supply chain.

Degnan has engaged an independent consultant to perform a risk assessment on our supply chain. Further, we have a working group charged with implementing the necessary controls at a system level to provide our team the tools for ongoing management of modern slavery risks.

Through knowledge, understanding and leadership, Degnan seeks to strengthen its reputation as a responsible corporate citizen.
