Recognising Aboriginal Culture at Dapto Station

At Degnan, we approach each project as unique to meet project requirements and enhance and create a positive and lasting impact on the local community. The totem poles and mural made for the Transport for NSW Dapto Station Upgrade by Coomaditchie artists Lorraine Brown and Narelle Thomas represent the six distinct seasons recognized by the people of Dharawal Country.

As the world’s oldest continuously living culture, Aboriginal people deeply understand co-existing with the environment. By studying the night sky and the cycles of water, plants, and animals, they developed the ability to predict seasonal changes with remarkable accuracy. This understanding is creatively displayed in the unique artwork at Dapto.
