Rail Safety Week with the Flagstaff Group
Last week, we had the opportunity to meet and present some rail safety messaging to a group of enthusiastic participants from The Flagstaff Group School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES).
Part of the messaging was also to introduce them to the Sunflower Hidden Disability Initiative.
Many people live with a hidden disability, which can create a barrier or challenge to navigating transport and other everyday activities. By wearing a sunflower lanyard or badge, they can discreetly indicate to the staff at Railway Station, shopping centres and other facilities that they may need additional time, support or understanding or if they see the recognisable sunflower being displayed or worn, that is somewhere or someone who will be able to offer support.
Thank you TrackSAFE Foundation and Hidden Disabilities Sunflower – Australia & New Zealand for the resources.
