NAIDOC Week 2022

Degnan is genuinely committed to supporting and collaborating with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and businesses to offer more than just acknowledgement and good intentions. As an organisation that deals with land, places, culture, history and the natural environment, we must understand more about the Traditional Owners of this land and the deep ‘connection to country’ that is so important to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

The new show-stopper at our NSW office entry will remind us daily of our connection and commitment to reconciliation. Designed using artwork created for Degnan by Jake Simon, which represents what our business is about and the journey of Degnan.

These words are a snapshot of the story behind the artwork to illustrate our commitment to work respectfully and in collaboration with the First Nations people of Australia​.

With the help of Supply Nation, we have been able to engage with many Indigenous contractors and suppliers on our projects; currently, we have 12 companies working on projects ranging from labour-hire and protection officers to surveying and cranage.
We seek to offer work to Indigenous contractors and suppliers not only to meet our project obligations but also to contribute to improving the networks and financial wellbeing of the Aboriginal people through more employment opportunities, which in turn has proven to encourage further education and career development in communities.
