Project Manager

This is your opportunity to work with a company that has built a strong reputation on successfully delivering commercial and infrastructure projects over the past 35 years. We have recently secured multiple infrastructure projects ranging from $10M – 30M with further projects in the pipeline

The candidate must possess relevant experience and education, be able to show longevity in past employment, and have sound experience in project management and delivery of Railway Station Infrastructure and, or Rail Maintenance Facilities within NSW.

You will also need to show impressive leadership skills and be able to mentor and develop fellow team members to achieve their potential.

 The purpose of the role is:

  • Manage and deliver projects in line with project documentation, considering quality and safety requirements, from bid management through to delivery and Handover.
  • Control a project on and off site, within time, quality and cost parameters.
  • Maintain good stakeholder relationships.
  • Overall accountability for delivering assigned projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Managing Rail infrastructure projects with in NSW
  • Responsible for the planning, financial and budgeting aspects of projects.
  • Manage and report the assigned program of work to achieve program objectives in accordance with corporate policy and contractual agreements.
  • Manage and anticipate project changes, adjusting plans and activities accordingly.
  • Oversee and monitor key milestones for project through regular project reviews and analysis of potential risks to ensure delivery of program objectives.
  • Ensure all project deliverables are of high quality prior to handover.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to align and agree upon a program of work and anticipate changes that may impact the program of work.
  • Manage performance, compliance and expectations of resources and ensure knowledge transfer within the team.

Education & Experience:

  • Proven experience in construction/project management, demonstrating a minimum of 5 years in a similar capacity.
  • Successfully completed the management of Rail infrastructure projects for Transport for NSW or Similar
  • Proven experience managing a construction team and the ability to lead and motivate a team to deliver results related to time, cost and quality.
  • Strong industry knowledge including structural engineering, building design principles, Rail Systems, Rail Safety
  • Demonstrate that the safety and welfare of all personnel that enter your site is prioritised.
  • Strong reporting and communication skills including cost control and paperwork to ensure that the project is operating efficiently, with the ability to communicate at all levels including clients, design consultants, site managers and sub-contractors.
  • Ideal candidate has a tertiary background in Construction Management or Engineering.

Position Available

Contracts Administrator

This is your opportunity to work with a company that has built a strong reputation on successfully delivering commercial and infrastructure projects over the past 35 years. We have recently secured multiple infrastructure projects ranging from $1M – 30M with further projects in the pipeline.

 We require an experienced contracts administrator who is looking to step up their responsibility and take on the challenge of projects within this financial range.

 As the contracts administrator you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring financial/ contractual systems are established at site start-up
    • Contributing to the development of scopes
    • Tracking of the project programme
    • Liaising with subcontractors and all appropriate consultants
    • Ensuring that contract requirements are being met
    • Attending to general head contract and subcontract correspondence
    • Assisting in planning and scheduling of various works
    • Ensuring that project forecasts and cash flow statements are maintained
    • Assisting in the accurate submission of progress, variation & contractual claims
    • Ensuring that subcontractor payments and variation claims are processed
    • Assisting with monthly financial reporting requirements
    • Assisting to make sure project specific reporting requirements are met
    • Co-ordinating monthly reporting with head office based commercial staff
    • Working with colleagues to determine the most cost effective way to let packages
    • Understanding all aspects of the contract and determining key areas of financial risk
    • Ensuring compliance with the WHSEQ Policies and Procedures.

To be considered for this role you must have proven experience working as a contracts administrator in the commercial & infrastructure sector. You must possess excellent communication skills and have the following:

  • Relevant construction management qualifications
  • 3+ years as a contracts administrator in Australia
  • Experience with project management software

Site Manager

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced Site Manager who is seeking a long career with a growing privately owned family company. We have recently secured multiple infrastructure projects ranging from $1M – 20M with further projects in the pipeline.

Reporting to the Project Manager & Senior Management you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising project delivery.

Your key responsibilities will include;

  • Manage and deliver projects in line with project documentation, considering quality, health and safety requirements.
  • Managing the day-to-day site activity in accordance with the programme, Project Plan and in line with Degnan accredited systems.
  • Managing site inductions for subcontractors and site employees
  • Working to deadline, contract and project timeframes
  • Maintaining quality relationships both internally and externally

To be considered for this role you must have;

  • Trade qualifications with a building diploma
  • Extensive Site Management experience and be able to have a verifiable track record with running similar projects within the infrastructure sector.
  • You must be a forward thinker and have the ability to take charge and drive the job efficiently.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of building trades, with strong technical planning and programming skills.

Trade Qualified Carpenters

Degnan are seeking experienced Trade Qualified Carpenters for full-time, Sydney-based commercial infrastructure work. If you would like the opportunity to join a growing privately-owned family company, we would love to hear from you.

Your key responsibilities will include;

  • Working alongside Site Managers and Project Managers
  • Using carpentry tools and equipment (must have your own standard tools)
  • Having your own vehicle, and a construction induction White Card

Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to listen to instructions and take charge of tasks
  • Have a positive “can-do” attitude
  • Motivated and have a good work ethic
